Nickeze Aromatherapy for Period pain

Menstrual pain is a widespread issue faced by approximately 75% of girls and women. Defined as pain and cramping in the lower abdomen originating from the uterus, it significantly impacts daily life, quality of life, and can lead to absenteeism from school, college, and work, hindering girls and women from engaging in activities that they enjoy.

Throughout history, individuals have turned to essential oils to address various conditions and alleviate stress and anxiety. Essential oils can be utilised in different ways:

  • Applied to the skin after dilution with a carrier oil.
  • Inhaled through an aromatherapy inhaler or diffuser.
  • Applied to the skin after dilution in a carrier oil.
  • Inhaled by placing a few drops on a tissue.
  • Added to a bath after mixing with a carrier oil.
  • It's important to note that essential oils should not be swallowed or used during pregnancy.

Aromatherapy and Menstrual Discomfort

The use of lavender oil as an aromatherapy massage oil has shown been shown to significantly reduce pain and discomfort associated with menstrual cramps. In a 2012 study, for example, nursing students applied either lavender oil or a placebo paraffin product to assess the potential benefits. Those who used lavender oil reported a substantial reduction in cramping.

Combining different essential oils may also offer benefits. In a another 2013 study, scientists explored a combination of essential oils, added to almond oil. Women massaged the oil blend into their abdomens, reporting less pain and bleeding during menstruation than those using a placebo treatment.

Aromatherapy can be wonderful for period pain, PMS, heavy periods and scanty periods.
